Restaurant Guide

The restaurants listed in the Guide offer some vegetarian dishes as part of their standard menu. Please note that all the restaurants in this guide have been contacted and asked about the lacto-vegetarian/vegan dishes on their standard menu.
These restaurants can provide a lacto-vegetarian meal without meat, fish, or eggs: though very few of them are solely vegetarian. We advise you to order carefully and ask specifically for dishes without meat, fish, and eggs.
In Italy, many restaurants prepare a few standard vegetarian dishes, for example, Pasta al Pomodoro, Penne Arrabiatta, Fusilli etc. These pastas are made without eggs.
Even if they are not listed on the menu, they are often willing to prepare them. Cheeses in Italy use either animal rennet or microbial/vegetal rennet, caglio in Italian. Please use your discretion in ordering.
If a menu says fresh pasta then please assume it contains eggs. Vegan options are available in most of these restaurants. You may also use apps such as “Happy Cow” to search for other vegan or vegetarian options around your area.
Please note that most restaurants prefer prior reservation. Moreover, if you request a booking for 10 or more people, restaurants are very willing to offer a specific menu/dishes.
In cities like Parma and Reggio Emilia many of these restaurants use different apps such as “Glovo”, “Just Eat”, “Deliveroo”, etc. for home delivery as well, so please refer to these apps if you want to use this service. Additional restaurants, particularly hotel restaurants, will be added soon.
